ActionTypes®
And what if, to progress in tango, you didn’t need to put in more effort… but simply to respect your natural way of moving?
Each of us has unique physical and motor preferences. The ActionTypes® approach, developed from sports and physiotherapy, helps reveal them and use them as powerful levers for progression.
As a result, we are more at ease, more confident and enjoy dancing more.
What are motor preferences?
Listen to your body, not anybody!
An action or motor profile results from the expression of a preference that draws on bodily intelligence. Its role is to ensure that the body–mind relationship allows the body to move freely in order to maintain overall coherence and balance.
The body has a natural intelligence linked to its anatomical structure and its capacity for movement. Lateralities, such as being left- or right-handed, are part of this bodily intelligence.
When the body perceives an inconsistency between intentions and actions, it automatically seeks to adjust by adopting a new posture to maintain global coherence.
Problems arise when we do not allow the body to move freely in order to meet its needs and maintain an adapted posture. Stress, fatigue, and lack of self-confidence can all restrict this freedom of movement.
When we overthink, we risk separating our mind from our body because we tend to ignore bodily needs. In this case, we create an inconsistency between mind and body, which can lead to difficulties in generating effective solutions.
If we trust it, our body has other resources that step in to maintain balance. By connecting to them, the body can adapt to external constraints.
These adjustments happen unconsciously. When we become aware of them, we may actually disrupt them. This often occurs in high-stress situations where the risk of dissociation between mind and body is strong. For example, when emotions overwhelm us, we are not invited to welcome the present moment.
Without realizing it, we prevent the necessary adaptations and become momentarily destabilized. In fact, this is an opportunity for growth—it is by no means necessarily negative. It is a preservation mechanism for our mental and physical health. Recognizing the importance of the mind–body interaction allows the body to adjust freely, creating a dynamic that promotes overall well-being.
Our Application in Tango Teaching
In our pedagogy, we have integrated the ActionTypes® approach to support each dancer in a tailored way.
In group classes
We use differential learning, which values the diversity of profiles.
Instead of imposing a single model, we offer varied explorations that allow each dancer to find ease and evolve at their own pace.
In private lessons
We go further through personalized profiling.
Through precise observations, we identify your natural strengths and help you make the most of them in your dance.
Our credo:
✨ Respect your differences,
✨ Help you build on your strengths,
✨ Foster a more fluid, natural, and joyful learning experience.
In short: move to YOUR Tango !
